On the Alleged Assassination of Israeli Ambassadors
In light of the alleged assassination of two ambassadors to so-called Israel in DC, Cincinnati Socialists reaffirms its commitment to the cause of the Palestinian people, including our support for armed self-defense on the part of Palestinians and all oppressed people.
History has shown that acts of individual terror are an ineffective—and, indeed, counterproductive—means of achieving revolutionary ends. Only organized political action by the broad masses can remove the yoke of capitalism and the bourgeois state from our necks. We insist that only a people united against exploitation can never be defeated. However, we also say that the full moral and political culpability for such individual actions falls on the shoulders of the oppressor, whether that oppressor is a capitalist firm, a police department, or an imperialist nation. We say with the Hebrew prophet Hosea that those who sow the wind cannot expect but to reap the whirlwind.
We also vigorously reject any attempt to smear any Marxist organization in the United States or abroad for the alleged events in Washington Wednesday night. Again, individual violence is not a Marxist tactic. We refuse to let the reported assassinations become a modern Reichstag Fire for the current Washington régime. Who can deny that the incompetence and cruelty of the US state—under both Biden and Trump—is the primary cause of chaos and butchery in the world today?
We Marxists do not send drones and missiles to slaughter children. We do not explode pagers and radios in public places. We do not range the world pillaging and raping. We call for the entire left in the United States, whether anarchist, Marxist-Leninist, Maoist, or Trotskyist, to resist all and any opportunist, unprincipled, and baseless neo-McCarthyist attacks on any left organization. Our solidarity is our strength and only together can we create real substantive and long-lasting change.
