An Attack Against One Is an Attack Against All

Our Response to Senator Josh Hawley

Soviet Union era artwork depicting Socialist unity.

Senator Josh Hawley, chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism, sent letters to three left-wing organizations:

• CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights)

• PSL (Party for Socialism and Liberation)

• Unión del Barrio (U.S. based organization fighting for immigrant rights)

These groups are being targeted for daring to organize against U.S. empire, white supremacy, and capitalist violence.

The demands in the letters include:

  • All internal communications

  • Donor lists

  • Financial records

  • Protest planning materials

…dating back to November 2024.

No evidence. No charges. Just intimidation.

Hawley’s letters hold no legal weight unless congressional subpoenas against these organizations are issued, but they set a dangerous precedent. This is a warning shot to organizers everywhere, dressed up in government letterhead.

This is the playbook: McCarthyism. COINTELPRO. Criminalize dissent. Stifle speech. Target the left.

Not "creeping" fascism, but repression in motion.

Cincinnati Socialists stands in solidarity with these organizations and all who challenge the structures of oppression enforced by the state apparatus.

When they come for one of us,

they come for all of us.

We won't be silenced.

We won't be intimidated.
